On the 13th of July, CCTV's "Night News" column broadcasted a special report on "Measures implemented simultaneously in many places to fight poverty", highlighting the representative cases of industrial poverty alleviation across the country, one of which is the "Huaibin factory", an industrial poverty alleviation project being created by SUMEC.

At the "Symposium on Poverty Alleviation in Deeply Poverty-Stricken Areas" in 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that it is necessary to increase the support for the deeply poverty-stricken areas in the eastern region and central units, and strengthen their responsibilities to assist these areas. As a central enterprise, SINOMACH, SUMEC's parent company, actively responded to the national call for poverty alleviation and accordingly worked to fight poverty in four designated poor counties, namely, Gushi County and Huaibin County in Henan Province, Chaotian District of Guangyuan City in Sichuan Province, and Pinglu County in Shanxi Province. Besides, its subsidiaries have undertaken poverty alleviation projects in 29 townships and towns and villages designated by local governments or other parties. All these efforts have yielded prominent results. According to incomplete statistics, in recent years, SINOMACH has invested nearly RMB 400 million to aid poverty-stricken regions and launched nearly 200 assistance projects to have helped tens of thousands of disadvantaged people get rid of poverty.
