SUMEC Textile & Light Industry Recognized as Belt and Road Leading Enterprise

From April 25 to 27, the 2nd Belt and Road Forum of International Cooperation was held in Beijing. As a core member of the central enterprise China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH), SUMEC Group Corporation (SUMEC Group) has long followed the steps of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It continues to strengthen the international cooperation on production capacity and invest in the construction of industrial plants, which has not only promoted the development of local economy and society but supported the development of SUMEC Group's businesses.

SUMEC Textile & Light Industry, a subsidiary of SUMEC Group, was recognized as the Belt and Road Leading Enterprise.

Since its establishment, SUMEC Textile & Light Industry has been adhering to the concept of high-quality development and exerting the advantage of the diversified elements and resources of different countries. It has further developed its industry chain layout in six countries including Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Belarus and Ethiopia, and promoted its bricks-and-mortar businesses to go out.

In February 2019, SUMEC Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. (SUMEC Vietnam Garment) officially started operation, mainly specializing in cotton-padded coats, down jackets, composite jackets, among other products. The first-phase plant covers an area of 6,000 m2, with 400 employees and 8 production lines. The second-phase plant is expected to start operation in 2020.

One the one hand, the successful start of operation of SUMEC Vietnam Garment has provided strong support for the long-term development of SUMEC Group's clothing business, reducing manpower and resource costs in manufacturing and increasing the efficiency of delivery. On the other hand, it has promoted local economic development while effectively improving the employment condition of Vietnamese people and creating a more humane and more scientifically managed working environment.

Furthermore, since as early as 2014, SUMEC Textile & Light Industry has begun to construct industrial plants in China's neighboring country Myanmar which features abundant human resources and low tariffs. At present, it has 3 production bases, 87 production lines and 5,000 workers there. In 2018, SUMEC Textile & Light Industry created an export volume of USD 66 million for Myanmar. The second plant of Myanmar SUMEC Win Win Garments Co., Ltd. (SUMEC Win Win) achieved an output value of USD 5.4 million in its processing business, which led to a business volume of about USD 16 million.
