Recently, SUMEC Marine Co., Ltd. started to build its own 39000dwt multi-purpose bulk carriers and 48500dwt multi-purpose general cargo carriers.

Leaders from SUMEC Marine and cooperative companies, financing bank representatives, classification society principals, designers, and invited guests from the industry attended the steel cutting ceremonies and jointly witnessed the historic moments.

The two ships are both the first ones in the 39000dwt multi-purpose bulk carrier series and the 48500dwt multi-purpose general cargo carrier series, which are co-invested by SUMEC Marine Co., Ltd. and, respectively, the well-known shipping companies NASCO and TOPSHEEN.

Compared with traditional handy-size bulk carriers, these two ships stand for the latest generation of bulk and general cargo carriers, offering an excellent solution for combined transportation of general and bulk cargoes as well as heavy and project cargoes.

The ship designs, considering the cargo and wharf features of future ship lines, were tailored and optimized in the joint efforts of SUMEC Marine Co., Ltd., the operative shipping companies, basic designers, and major equipment manufacturers. The conceptual design plan was accomplished after repeated discussion and improvement. The ship designs have applied modern technologies equipped with hydraulic tween decks in cargo holds. The 39000dwt multi-use bulk cargo ship possesses the capability to load heavy project cargoes up to 180 tons. The ships have  high carrying capacity and very advanced equipment compared to similar sized ships in the market. Besides, their highlights include green and energy saving technology, reliable performance and efficiency operation. Six ships of these two series will be built and they will bring strong market competitiveness.

SUMEC Marine has been committed to shipbuilding technology and management for more than twenty years and has achieved an excellent reputation in the global shipbuilding industry. To date, SUMEC Marine has contracted and delivered more than 200 vessels for ship owners from various nations. In recent years, while consistently sticking to shipbuilding contracting and agency business, SUMEC Marine has actively taken advantage of market fluctuation opportunities to start ship owning business. Sumec Marine has established strategic cooperation with the shipping partners, making full use of the advantages in shipbuilding and financing, and gradually stepping into ship chartering and ship resale, thus to realize the company’s new upgrading and development.
